Microsoft launches "GarageBand Killer"

You thought Microsoft would never discover music right?
Well guess what... not only did the M-machine become aware of the existence of music they have also launched their own music production software and it's (in my opinion) bound to eradicate, banish, erase, pulverize Logic Studio from the pages of history and the collective memory.

Eh... well no, it would more probably be something to compete against GarageBand as a composition scratchpad/aide.
What... you don't believe me? Here it is, take that Garage Band! (Hey is that a MacBook?)

I'm so switching back to Windows after this...
Ok I'm being sarcastic, but hey... I would love to see more competition against Logic Studio / GarageBand (on all levels and fronts) so Apple would remain perennially forced to innovate.

Nice work Microsoft research, couple that with better marketing and you have a winner.

Oh My... this has to be the WORST introduction-to-software video I've ever seen. It was EMBARRASSING. How on EARTH could Microsoft have even released it. I love my Macs.....

I thought this to be a joke, but it's not. Joke's on Microsoft.

This is why Sesame Street failed as an ad agency.

the girl and father seem to be running windows on a macbook pro

Anonymous said...

hahaha, watch out Logic Studio!!!!!

Anonymous said...

What the heck. It looks like you would outgrow this by the time you got to high school.

Vomit-inducing. On the bright side, there's probably one less ad agency to darken a troubled world.

MS should stick to what it does best, like ruining Ray Ozzie's career and giving Steve Ballmer the chance to get out of the group home once in a while.

Isn't the computer the girl is using in the beginning a MacBook Pro with a sticker stuck over the Apple Logo?

Anonymous said...

ohhhhh ho HO HO HO HHOOOOOMG THat was so crap. Worst song and it just makes the software looks crap

Leaving the M$-bashing aside, this sort of Band-in-a-Box with pitch regonition input could be a big hit with the Miley Cyrus audience. And that's a BIG market!

I wonder how it gets on with input NOT in time and in tune though? That's what it will mostly get I'm afraid!

Yeah, of course, all the logic users started to attack microsoft, its really easy to attack an idea..thats what has been done in the past as well, people were killed over new thoughts..Well, I have news for you, this product is not targeted against logic or even garageband, its a FUN application for those who doesn't know about music production. Grow up, and stop bashing innovation, not everything has to be aimed towards professional users, think just a little bit before you bash something..

shut up. it's still a piece of crap and you know it. besides, that girl is definitely using a MacBook Pro, you can see the apple stem sticking out from under that gay sticker in the middle. you'd think microsoft could at least use their own hardware.

HA! Microsoft can't even use one of their own computers for this app! Lame.

Microsoft doesn't manufacture computers.

What's with all of the gay-bashing in this thread? You folks desperate to have something, anything else to disparage because you are so feeble?

what the hell... this is retarded

microsoft is so microsoft.
also lold.

macbooks is so macbook too.

Barf. Just Barf. I can't really sum up my reaction to this video with ANY other term, really , no I mean REALLY!!!

Pitch recognition, cool, genre selection, yeah cool, but the actual tracks sound like the worst Band-In-The-Box backing from 12 years ago!!

Some-one clever once said "A camel is a horse designed by a committee", Microsoft you have WAY too many committees!!!!

Crappity, crap crap.

Hearing this little mistkroete singing makes you believe Dakota Fanning screaming sounds like an overtire. Maybe someone should unplug the dongle from the d-d-dads arse so that he can shoot himself. "Sometimes it's dark..." down there i a lonely Microsoft cellar room in Redmond..."But you still need to get dry..." yes, you boozy bastards down there, try to get dry before writing such doody...

Finally, something to help me write awesome love songs and get my groove on! Wow. Is it just me, or did all the accompaniments sound almost exactly the same?

Anonymous said...

Well the idea is a solid one. They show that the program can run on multiple platform (mac and windows (the indian guy singing jazzy)).

- Someone said that people that make music for a living, use garage-band or some other product? Is this really true?

Anonymous said...

I could only wath half as it was sooooooo bad!

This isn't gay. You know what's gay? Two men having sex!

David said...

This ad sucks the sweat off of a dead man's balls. Apple has nothing to worry about.

Anonymous said...

...Can garageband do the sing into it thing?

It's microsoft.
but that feature is cool.

Anonymous said...
