Microsoft launches "GarageBand Killer"

Buzz It Share
You thought Microsoft would never discover music right?
Well guess what... not only did the M-machine become aware of the existence of music they have also launched their own music production software and it's (in my opinion) bound to eradicate, banish, erase, pulverize Logic Studio from the pages of history and the collective memory.

Eh... well no, it would more probably be something to compete against GarageBand as a composition scratchpad/aide.
What... you don't believe me? Here it is, take that Garage Band! (Hey is that a MacBook?)

I'm so switching back to Windows after this...
Ok I'm being sarcastic, but hey... I would love to see more competition against Logic Studio / GarageBand (on all levels and fronts) so Apple would remain perennially forced to innovate.

Nice work Microsoft research, couple that with better marketing and you have a winner.

Apple releases "Logic Studio in Action" videos, articles

Buzz It Share
How much time has passed since the introduction of Logic Studio on Sep 2007?
Exactly... That's enough time to test it, take it on the road, produce albums, and document all the action.

Apple has done just that and they have launched the "Logic Studio in Action" video/article series.
In them you'll find for example, how Nine Inch Nails takes their production to the stage and basically how Logic Studio's MainStage can help you in your live setup: vocals, keyboards, guitar effects etc. Also there are articles on how other producers are using Logic Studio to create their work.

To cite the words of Nine Inch Nails' Trent Reznor:
"Frankly my knowledge of MainStage was: Oh, it's something that comes with Logic. When it proved itself, you know, we felt like the smartest guys in the room for a little while"
The video is quite impressive (full of gear pr0n) and they make it seem as though the possibilities with MainStage are endless (still, no ReWire folks!)

There is also an introductory video to MainStage, I wonder why it was not released before.
Virtuoso composer and instructor Scott Wilkie takes you through the basics of MainStage.
With his smooth playing he sure makes those Logic Studio instrument patches stand out.

We can only hope this new series keep growing!
You can check them out at: http://www.apple.com/logicstudio/action/

Cheers.
